“A Midsummer Night’s Dream Scent Event ~ Part Two ~ Natural Perfume ~ Smiling Country by Ayala Moriel Parfums and a perfume poem inspired by another new scent from Ayala Moriel Parfums *Orcas*

Smiling Country ~ Ayala Moriel Parfums, Perfumer Ayala Sender

” before him was smiling country,

streaming with sunshine,

lazy with quietude…”

(Jack London, White Fang)

Indeed an unusual scent. Smiling Country opens with penetrating goodness, herbal lush and very green with *galbanum, *wild carrot, *angelica, *florentine iris, *everlasting, *thyme absolute in *a wild bunch of herbal weeds*

The scent is quieted with dusty brown hues of dirt and is washed by a babbling brook jumping over mossy rocks…. Suck on a blade of grass, a sharp green tang. Rub your nose in the dirt watching caterpillars crawl by. Crack a twig and throw it into the stream…Hear birds overhead and wonder…in a moment of time standing still. A cool breeze…and it’s gone.

This is not at all a perfumey perfume but more of a scent story ride you may choose to go on from time to time. I know I would like this in the winter to remind me of the lush greenery and sultry soil of summer. I like it. I was quite unsure at first, wondering what led Ayala to present such an odd scent. But slowly I started to get it. It IS the scent of summer, of earth and mossy rocks and grass and weeds. Scratch that, I love it!

!! * these are all wild guesses as to Ayala’s perfume notes. She will divulge later her secrets. She wanted to see if we could guess first.

Another NEW scent from Ayala Moriel Parfums

ORCAS

the first Natural Oceanic scent for Men.

Perfume Poem by Magnolia May Polley

Our ancestors still wear the scent of sea mist upon their collars and skin,
The essence of all that intimately entangles itself with the breath of the ocean…the breath of life-
And those who make their lives around the water.
Singing Sirens, pirates and women who gather delicate flowers and mussels for supper,
Sailors, and fisherman, and small children smell like this…
Like freedom and independence and clean dirt and rain.
Ode to the wild Orca, Ode to the Moon and Ode to Waters,
May our prayers be answered through the immaculate nature of our hearts in unison with the pull of the tides…

Disclosure: Ayala Moriel Parfums are all natural. A free sample of Smiling Country was provided for this review.

I am really enjoying this Midsummer perfume! I’m currently letting it sit on a strip, and writing down my impressions of the notes.

Another lovely perfume by Ayala :)

Now I’m interested in sniffing this Smiling Country business — everything I’ve ever smelled of Ayala’s I’ve liked. They have this evolutionary movement that opens in a way that might be confusing, but then gets right to the point, and the theme, of the perfume in question. Amazing.
