May 9 – Moon in Capricorn. Mercury enters Taurus to turn your thoughts to the practical and real. This adds to the earthiness of the day giving great energy for concrete achievement. You can set roots for new projects and plant root vegetables in your garden.  You have good concentration and the stamina to get a big task done today. Work long hours.

May 10 – Moon in Capricorn, VC 3:11 pm. Make a long range plan for your work and for your personal life and then outline it step by step. You can see how to get from here to there and how to spot the obstacles along the way. Take advantage of the practicality that the Sun and Moon in earth signs gives you. Make any improvements to your investments today. You won’t want to change anything after next week.

May 11 – Moon in Aquarius . Now you can let the part of your mind that makes theories and “what if’”s take over. Let yourself think outside the box and don’t be intimidated by those with narrow minds as you express your ideas. Shop for the newest software and upgrade your old equipment to help you take another step into the 21st century. Call someone to help you if the technology seems confusing.

May 12 – Moon in Aquarius. Don’t plant today, unless you want to transplant onion sets. This is a barren moon and the only plants that do well are onions and pine trees. Put your energy into a community project or attend a fundraiser. Volunteer to help to do something you don’t usually do. Be like a chick that is breaking out of his shell and entering a new world.

May 13 – Moon in Pisces. Today is the day to go into the garden and yard and plant. Honor Mother Earth. It is a lucky day, one when you can make your dreams come true. It’s time to be extravagant and enjoy the best that the material world offers. Buy gourmet food and chocolate for Mother on her day. Communicate your love in an artistic way.

May 14 – Moon in Pisces. Try your luck at work. Take a risk and expand out in some way. Tackle those problems that seemed too big to handle. Take care of tomorrow’s business items today. Take a few moments to be thankful for all you have and make a donation to help those who are in need. Review your money and investments and make those banking actions you’ve been thinking about doing.

May 15 – Moon in Pisces, VC from 7:59 am until 5:45 pm when it enters Aries. Venus turns retrograde at 10:33 am. Flow with the day and don’t try to stay on any schedule. A VC Pisces day is a personal day from the Universe. Venus shifting direction disturbs the energy. The best thing to do today is to plant. Help an elderly friend or relative with their gardening tasks.

May 16 – Moon in Aries. You will be looking at your partner in a different light now that Venus in retrograde motion is asking you to review your relationships. You are apt to see it from your perspective and not in the spirit of compromise. It’s a day to put yourself first. Mars and Pluto meet to give you pragmatic energy to demand that you do what’s right and fix what’s wrong.

Here is my review:
Cream is soft and creamy and will associate its creaminess with the evening when the list of all works comes to an end and it’s time to relax. Both the scents have strawberry but the question is what makes cream so creamy? And the answer is in creamy vanilla, juicy peach and pacthouli. Talking of ambergris, which has been used as a fixative, is one of the best raw materials the nature has given to us. Its smokiness and animalic sexiness are just mind blowing.

Green: I am loving it, Green smells like fresh strawberries and I clearly get a whiff of rose petals which blends beautifully with this fruity concoction to make it smell fresh and green. In both Green and Cream what I adore is the use ambergris. As of the odor profile of ambergris, it smells smoky, salty, sweet and animalic for sure. I get all these characteristics of ambergris in both. Green, to me, is like standing by the window on a summer morning, sip at your tea, listen to the birds singing and happiness.
On the whole both the fragrances are a perfect joy for the wearer.
I vote for Green.

Note from Monica: Strawberry Passion all natural Perfume was created especially for me/Perfume Pharmer to wear love and sell as our “very own” fragrance  by perfumer Kedra Hart of Opus Oils. Sea Scape Perfume by Anu Essentials is my ode to Auset, the primordial Great Mother.  In the ancient Kemetic (Egyptian) tradition, Auset is mother of mothers.  Known for her great capacity to nourish and nurture, she gives birth and life to all things. She is magic and mystery and all things deep and true. Her love and patient strength know no bounds.

Auset is uncompromisingly devoted, especially to children and family. Children love and gravitate toward someone (female or male) in whom the Auset faculty is well-developed. That person is loving, understanding, patient and caring; she or he wants to feed you, wants you to feel loved.

Auset’s essence resides in the sea. She is mighty and unconquerable, yet she flows effortlessly under, around, above and beyond obstructions, always avoiding conflict.  She likes things that are watery, like lettuce, watermelon and cucumbers. These are among the items you’d take to the beach as an offering to the Great Mother, whose love for her children runs as deep as the sea.

As someone born under a fire sign and on a Tuesday (a day ruled by Mars), my tendency is to be other than the Great Mother. I’m more often fiery and impatient and am reminded that I need to do more to develop my Auset faculty.  And so it is with great desire that I set out to create a scent to help remind me to embody Auset’s essence. I know that I am drawn to those things that represent the Great Mother such as cowrie shells, pearls, crystals, the moon and I absolutely love being in the ocean.  So it is with the creation of Sea Scape that I set out to design a perfume to help invoke her energy, her demeanor and ways of functioning.  If the Great Mother doesn’t seem quite sexy enough, remember Auset is the source of that primal and irresistible magnetism through which pregnancy and birth come to be…

Jasmine is one of Auset’s flowers and from the conception of this fragrance I knew I wanted this perfume to be centered around two primary essences, jasmine and seaweed. I was invited to participate in Monica Miller’s Primordial Scents 2012 Perfume Project, which would launch in June. The challenge would be to make a perfume using these two dense elements in a harmonious way and not have it be too heavy for a June launch.

Considering the depth of seaweed, I attempted to keep the rest of the base notes light with a boswella frankincense, Ethiopian opoponax, sustainable sandalwood and costus.  For the heart I have two jasmines playing off one another: a grandiflorum absolute and a jasmine e.o.  Blended with these two intoxicating essences are violet leaf for that lettuce element, a little pimento berry to spice it up, neroli and an exquisite rose alba.  I wanted to continue with lightness, so there are several citrus scents at the top.  They include petitgrain, white grapefruit, and clementine.

My fragrance designs are often unconventional, I know. Perhaps it’s the classic case of a student new to the art unwittingly breaking the rules.  I know that experimenting with scents is enormously fulfilling. I’m excited, creatively inspired and in love with the process, even if I’m not always initially in love with the results. I sincerely hope that others will find something to love in something I’ve created.

Sea Scape will be launched this June and will be available at the Anu Essentials website and at the Khamit Kinks salon.

No one wants to be left out of Fragrance Mastermind Monica Miller’s events, not even a reclusive perfumer like me. So when she asked if i would like to join her Primordial Scents Salon 2012, I felt that tingling sensation one feels at the tap of a magic wand. She even gave us p l e n t y of  lead time which made my head nod in large approval; aging being one of the finest ingredients a perfumer has.

So! I gathered around 6 chairs and invited Air, Water, Fire, Metal, Earth to sit with me & we proceeded to give each other….blank stares. For a whole month. And then another. And another….nervous tension seeped into my belly.

I decided to shelve the gang and moved on to other activities; such as piddling. Piddling has come to my rescue many times over, especially if i forget what i’m piddling about. One day as i opened the lid to my Pawpaw tincture, which is straight up Butterscotch, thick as molten syrup, i felt a gentle touch on my shoulder from an illuminating ray of sun. Ah. Yes. Liquid Sunshine.  Bingo.

A word on notes; I cannot give you the hard and the fast. A perfume is so much more than a list. How do you measure the hope, excitement, abandon and care that surround each drop as it falls from the dropper? Not to mention the distinct ‘fingerprint’ each perfumer has. And that allure thing; it’s made up mostly of mystery. I create and set to flight. I leave it to others to pin down
